Understanding Roof Pitch
Roof pitch is defined as the ratio of a roof’s vertical rise to its horizontal run. In the United States, the standard reference run is 12 inches (1 foot). A 7/12 pitch means the roof rises 7 inches vertically for every 12 inches horizontally.
